Ops:
·
Students – to congratulate you
for the hard work represented by your achievements that resulted in the L&N
being named the only Knox County high school that is a TN Reward School for
Performance for 2016-17, we want to give you a treat before Halloween. At lunch today (Monday) all students are
invited to pick a treat from the Mayfield ice cream freezer in the
cafeteria. Many are being donated by
Mayfield to say “congratulations” and the staff is providing the rest. Congrats Gryphon Scholars!
·
Please join us here at school
in the Media Center on Thursday, November 2nd, from 6 to 8 p.m. for an evening of discussion as
well as a student-created escape room associated with KCPL and UT's Big
Read, Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. Refreshments will
be served.
·
Seniors – be sure you reserve
your space for the date that works best for you for the Senior breakfast. This is no cost to you and we expect 100%
participation. Email Ms. Coley if you
have any questions. The link is www.SignUpGenius.com/go/8050844A5A623AB9-class
·
To help you plan for October 31
– yes, you may wear a costume to school for Halloween. Here are some things to keep in mind about
it: like Spirit Week – all costumes must meet KCS dress code policy (no
spaghetti straps, exposed midriffs, etc.); you may not wear a mask that covers
your face; and if your costume is so extreme as to cause a distraction to
others, you may be required to tone it down or change for the duration of the
school day. This costume allowance
applies only to Halloween, Oct 31.
Students will be expected to go back to your normal lovely selves on Nov
1!
·
Big congrats to our Boys and Girls
Cross Country teams on their Regional A-AA Championships! Both teams qualified for state for the first
time in school history! Congrats to
individual champion Seth Jinks!
·

Thank you to
all those who stepped up to volunteer – we will be calling several of you
individually for specific projects throughout the year.

Gryphons, in microbiology a group
of your peers is conducting an experiment that compares the common fast food
chicken sandwich and french fries, and how it effects your digestion. Please
take the following 2 question survey in order to contribute to their data and
experiment. https://goo.gl/forms/lxpvPx69fo4MRgKy1
· Interested in
making $20? Come to G006 on Mondays during your lunch period to get your height
and weight taken! We'll sign you up to come back and pick up an accelerometer
that you will wear for 7 days. An accelerometer is a nifty device that measures
your physical activity. After that, you'll bring it back and we'll give you a
$20 Walmart gift card! Hope to see you then! Questions? Ask Chelsea clessard@vols.utk.edu or Dr.
Bretscher .
· Yearbooks for
the 2017-18 school year are officially on sale! Pick up an order form from the
office any time or order yours from www.jostensyearbooks.com. The price per
book is $55 now through September 15th. The longer you wait to order yours, the
higher the price goes up, so make sure to order yours as soon as possible
to save up to $25 this school year! Seniors:
you can purchase a yearbook for $50
if you order before Nov 1. Special price does not apply to a customized
