For those with
Digital Labs – we will be revising the checkout lists following posting of

the next grading period and your grades have come up. Use your time wisely and keep those grades
up! New roster goes into effect starting
Tuesday, Sept 12.

Juniors and Seniors! Knox County Schools sponsors a College
Fair each year for all schools to attend at no cost. This year’s Fair will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 from 9:00am – 12:30pm.
We have not yet been assigned our time to attend, but if you are
interested (and all juniors are strongly encouraged to attend), you will need
the following:
· A notarized medical release form for field
trips on file for this school year. Students may pick up the form at the
front office anytime. If anyone needs a notary, our bookkeeper can
provide that service if you bring your ID when you come to the office to sign
it.
o A completed permission form. It and
the medical release form were attached to the email sent to you earlier by Mr.
Sudderth. There will also be copies available in the Guidance Center.
o Return completed permission
forms and Medical forms to Mr. Sudderth in Guidance no later than 9/13/17.
·
Congratulations to our L&N
Art students whose work was entered into the Tennessee Valley Fair Student Art
Exhibition. All four of our students placed: Christopher Sconion,
2nd Place (Drawing); Samantha Rodriguez, 3rd Place (Mixed Media) and
both Nina Klein and Travis Gardner received Honorable Mentions
(Sculpture). Congratulations also to Madison Jackson, who won 3rd Place
in Photography for the Congressional Medal of Honor Art Show. These students
will receive their awards in a ceremony next Monday night. Be sure to visit the
Jacobs Building to see their artwork during the fair!
·
Fridays are Coffee &
Candy Day at The L&N STEM Academy Coffee Nook. Need a little boost? The weekend is almost
here! Stop by the Coffee Nook for $1
candy bars and a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate! (We're open before school and the first 30
minutes of each block.)
Coffee
Nook Gift Cards Do you find yourself needing coffee but never having cash
when you need it? Purchase a $10 Coffee Nook Gift Card worth 10 cups of
coffee, tea, or hot chocolate! They make
great gifts! See Ms. Ellis (in the
Library) to purchase one.
In case you
were wondering, every purchase you make at the Coffee Nook helps improve
our Library. Really, it does! We're using the money we
raised last year to purchase a subscription for ebooks both school-related
and for pleasure reading. Yay! We should have them up and available
by October.
· Join us for a
night of reading and enthusiastic discussion at the L&N STEM
Academy's Fall Reading Night!
· Who's
invited? You are! All students, parents, and staff of the L&N STEM
Academy are welcome!
· Where will we be
reading? We'll be in the Commons and Media Center.
· What does it
cost? Nothing.
It's free!
· What should I
bring? Bring
a book (or check one out from the school Library Media Center)
and we'll provide the pizza, popcorn, drinks, and door prizes,
including a selection of free books, a $25 McKay's Voucher, and Starbucks
gift cards. We'll have a structured
night of reading (30-minute intervals) with breaks for eating and
socializing...and, yes, prize winning!
· Yearbooks for
the 2017-18 school year are officially on sale! Pick up an order form from the

higher the price goes up, so make sure to order yours as soon as possible
to save up to $25 this school year! Seniors:
you can purchase a yearbook for $50
if you order before Nov 1. Special price does not apply to a customized
