School Mission – Boundless STEM: Learning & Leading
L&N Student Mission – #Own it!

School Ops:
College App Week!!  Did you know that  college is a great place to make professional and social connections? College grads have better communication skills; and college grads make better choices.  All reasons to make plans now to continue your education past high school!

·      Seniors: Remember the TN Promise meeting on Wednesday, October 4 at 8:00 a.m. in the STEM Space.  This meeting will be a 35 minute informational meeting with all seniors enrolled at your institution. tnAchieves student handbooks will be distributed and the following topics will be discussed at this meeting:
Introduction to TN Promise, the November 1, 2017 scholarship application deadline and tnAchieves requirements, deadlines and mentors
•       Information on 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) completion and the mandatory January 16, 2018 TN Promise FAFSA filing deadline
•      Community service, which students can begin accruing on November 2, 2017.
All seniors are expected to attend as this will count as the student’s first TN Promise meeting and future mandatory eligibility requirements will be discussed.

·      All students:  Interested in making $20? Come down to G006 on Mondays during lunch to get your height and weight measured. After that, you'll wear an acceleromter (a little device that tracks your physical activity) for 7 days and then we'll hand you a $20 gift card to Walmart! The Fruved team will be there each Monday, so come on down!   See Dr. Bretscher if you have questions.

·      Students who park off campus – please be vigilant about locking your car and storing belongings in the trunk or out of sight.  We are becoming aware of reports of car break-ins in the downtown area.  We can patrol our campus lot and have asked KPD to step up patrols in the Blackstock lot and Grand Avenue, but you can help by always locking, being aware of your surroundings, and taking precautions.  Don’t give thieves a reason to believe you have anything valuable in your car!

·      Get out this weekend to the Rock the First Amendment event to be held at Blount County Public Library, Saturday, 9/30, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.  It’s part of the library’s Banned Books Week celebration.  It's family friendly, and all ages are welcome. The library will have activities targeted toward kids and teens during the concert, and they will be giving away door prizes, one of which will be a Covalence (the L&N students’ band) t-shirt.
