"N" Schedule Day
Advisory & National Latin Exam Day
Special note to students – let’s keep focused. The weather is turning pretty, spring break
is around the corner, and now the clock reminds us it is daylight savings time –
but we’re still in school and here to learn.
Let’s keep our outfits, our language, our volume, and our behavior
appropriate for school!

Latin
Students: When reporting for
your testing time all you need is a pencil.
No iPad, no phone, no backpacks.
You will be done and back in class before the period ends.
o
At 9:45 this morning the following students will be
dismissed to come to the Commons Area for the National Latin Exam: Mr. Crattie’s L2, L3, N1, and N3 classes, Mr.
Webb’s N4 class.
o
At 11:00, the following students need to report to the
Commons for testing: Mr. Crattie’s L4 and N2 classes, and Mr. Webb’s L2 and L4
classes.

Juniors: Tuesday, March 19 is the
in-school administration of the ACT
exam. The exam must start by 9:00 a.m.
so we will start instructions at 8:45.
YOU are responsible for arranging transportation to be here by 8:45 on
the 19th to take the test. NO
EXCEPTIONS!

Juniors: In preparation for the in-school ACT exam, some of you have received
invitations, and this is a special offer to ALL interested juniors to attend
ACT focused test-prep sessions to be held this week during 2nd Advisory in room 205 each day: Tuesday
focus is Reading/English, Wednesday
is Math, Thursday is Science
Reasoning. Check in with your Advisory
teacher if you do not have Enrichment before participating. Attendance will be taken and reported back to
Advisory teachers.

Need help just managing everything? Want to get help/advice from your peers
before your teachers? Join the
student-led study group that is forming.
They will meet Tuesdays from 5:00 – 7:30 at the downtown library. Email students T’Neycia Jackson or Audrey
Barbour for more information.

for this year. Click on the “guidance”
tab on the left of our school’s homepage to find more information now!

AP students – it is time to register for your AP exams this
spring! See the message from Mrs.
Salerno at the bottom of today’s announcements.

The Chess Club is kicking off a
fundraiser selling flower bulbs. We are raising money to buy more chess boards,
timers, and pay competition entry fees in the Fall. This event runs through
April 15, 2013. If you are interested in reviewing the items available, please

link where you can place your order directly online. Items ordered
will be shipped directly to you anytime after April 2, 2013, depending on when
you place you order. Chess Club members have paper catalogs if you would like
to peruse one of them instead. The Chess Club thanks you in advance for your

Big Orange STEM Symposium: High school juniors
are invited to the University of Tennessee's Big Orange STEM Symposium on
Saturday, April 6th from 10:00am-3:00pm at Hodges Library. This program
will introduce local high school students to careers and research exploration
in STEM disciplines through active engagement, networking, and hands-on
presentations from experts in the field and community. Registration opens

Special announcement for AP
students:It is type to sign up
for and pay for any AP Exams you want to take in May. The cost of each
exam is $89 ($53 if student is on free/reduced lunch). Please make checks
out to the L&N STEM Academy with the name of the AP
exam(s) you are paying for in the memo line. Students signing up to
take these exams must also complete a registration form which can be found on
the Guidance page of STEM's website.
Payments and registration forms will be accepted
by Mrs. Salerno in the guidance lobby during the following dates and times:
Monday – Friday, March 11 – 15, from 4:30 – 4:45 in the Guidance Office
Other times can be scheduled by request of the
student or parent as needed.
No
payments or registrations forms will be accepted nor refunds issued after
Friday, March 15th!
