STEM STUDENT Announcements for 3/7/13

GRYPHON ANNOUNCEMENTS
For Thursday, March 7, 2013
"L" Schedule Day
Advisory Day

·      Juniors:  Tuesday, March 19 is the in-school administration of the ACT exam.  The exam must start by 9:00 a.m. so we will start instructions at 8:45.  YOU are responsible for arranging transportation to be here by 8:45 on the 19th to take the test.  NO EXCEPTIONS!    If you ride a bus and it gets here after that, we can provide you with a KAT pass to ride one of their buses, or you need to find another way to school that day!

·      Please be on the lookout for a hat.  It is beige/tan with stitching moving vertically.  On the back is a small metal plate that says “RAST WILLIAMS.”  If found, please turn in to the office ASAP.  Thank you.

·      Bad news/good news item:  Bad news is that due to low interest, evidenced by lack of support for fundraising and planning meetings, we will not be holding a spring prom this school year.  Good news is that the money that has been raised will go towards a bigger prom for next spring (2014!).  Now – in order to be sure that one happens – any student interested in helping to plan the 2014 prom needs to meet during 1st lunch in room 214.  If you’re interested but can’t get there during 1st lunch, email Mrs. Salerno, Stewart, or Brogan.

·      Summer School info – Knox County Summer School applications just went active for this year.  Click on the “guidance” tab on the left of our school’s homepage to find more information now!

·      AP students – see a special note to you about AP exams after the STEM Habits at the bottom of this announcement.

·      Order your yearbooks now!  Click here for link.  Cost is $70.  Order now!

·      What do you do to stay fit? Do you go to YMCA during gym? Do you play tennis? Do you rock climb? What kinds of interesting activities do you to stay fit? If you want to share your fitness activities and be featured in the yearbook, then email S039856@student.knoxschools.org or S022925@student.knoxschools.org .
