12-20-18 Student Mission Briefing

GRYPHON MISSION BRIEFING
For Thursday, December 20, 2018 – L-day
L1/L2 MIDTERMS – last day of the fall semester!
School Mission – Boundless STEM: Learning & Leading
L&N Student Mission – #Own it!

School Ops:
·      As a reminder – here is Thursday’s schedule:
o   Cafeteria will have breakfast and lunch both days.  Buses run at regular times.
§  9:30 – 11:00 - 1st block
§  11:05 – 12:30 – 2nd block
§  12:30 – 1:15 – lunch for everyone in the cafeteria/Commons
·       if not staying for lunch and you returned a permission form for exams, you may leave at 12:30, or eat lunch and then leave by 1:15.
·      If riding a bus you must wait in Commons or Verandah (not Plaza) until 4:30 when they run.
o   All students on campus should be in the Commons at 1:15.  Teachers will come there to meet you and take you to classrooms if you are working with them.
o   Friday – no cafeteria service.  Students should only attend if they have an appointment with a teacher.

·      You need to plan on leaving your computer at school as you leave on Thursday, no matter the time.  Those not turned in over break will be kept the same amount of time in January even after we are back in school so as not all students will be without it for the same time.

·      First day back for next semester is Tuesday, January 8, 2019.  See you next year!

Community  & Guidance Ops:
·      Seniors have you filed your FAFSA yet?

Quote of the day from Charles Dickens from A Christmas Carol:
[the holidays are] “a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time; the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys.  And therefore, though it has never put a scrap of gold or silver in my pocket, I believe that it has done me good, and will do me good!”

Your teachers and staff of the L&N wish for each of our students a holiday break where you are reminded you are connected to those fellow passengers around you and part of something bigger than yourself – and best wishes for 2019!
