Parents - join the conversation for your student's schedule for next year!

FYI - progress reports went out during Advisory Class on Tuesday, Feb 12
Even as we continue our work already in place this year, the administration and teachers are turning attention to the future as we make plans to add another full class of freshmen and host our first graduating class in 2013-14.  Below are some upcoming dates you need to know about so you can be a full partner with your student and teachers in planning.  ALL students will be bringing home course request sheets with all course options for next year between Feb 25 and March 5.  Please plan on making some time to talk with your student about their choices for next year.

For current juniors:  We will have a student/parent meeting, Tuesday, Feb 19, 5:30 - 6:30  in the STEM space in the Depot building.  During this meeting we will discuss college search, application, and scholarship dates/tips, the Senior Year Capstone experience (STEM IV) at our school, and possible opportunities for off-campus privileges for academically-achieving juniors this spring.

For current sophomores:  We need to have a dialogue about planning your student's "focus of study," which is required of all graduating TN students.  This conversation will include discussion of future schedules, but is not technically "schedule requesting" for next year.  This is part of the process for accountability towards graduation.  Each family needs to call 329-8440, or email "joan.patterson@knoxschools.org" to schedule your 15 minute appointment with a counselor or administrator.  Appointments will be taken for the following times and dates until they are filled:
Times: 4:45, 5:05, 5:25, 5:45, 6:05, 6:25 p.m. on each day: February 19, 21, 25, or 27
You will be scheduled with anyone available at the date/time you requested,  these are not counseling or consultation sessions, so you will not be able to request a certain person.

For current freshmen:  They will be receiving information through Advisory classes regarding choosing classes and elective paths.  They will be bringing the course request sheets home to discuss with you.

As always - we are partners with you in your student's high school experience - let's do all we can to make it a great one!
