STEM STUDENT Announcements for 2/12/13

GRYPHON ANNOUNCEMENTS
For Tuesday, Feb 12, 2013
"L" Schedule Day
Advisory Day

In recognition of Black History Month (February):
Dr. Patricia Bath is a widely known ophthalmologist from New York. Her main goal was to find a way to prevent, care, and treat blindness. She was living in Los Angeles when she
received her first patent, becoming the first African American female doctor to patent a medical invention. Patricia Bath's patent (#4,744,360) was for a method for removing cataract lenses that transformed eye surgery by using a laser device making the procedure more accurate.
