·           Thanks to the students who participated in Tuesday’s statewide mock election.  We sincerely hope those who are 18 will go out and cast your vote in the election on Nov 6.  Interestingly, there was a statewide mock election in 2016 for the presidential election.  At that time, we did the voting in Advisory classes so almost everyone voted. This time, we wanted it to mirror actual voting so students had to take time to go to our “polling place” during your lunchtime (on the Plaza). The turnout was similar to TN’s average turnout – which is one of the lowest in the country! The voter turnout in Tennessee in the 2014 midterms was 36% and our Tuesday turnout was 31%.  Please encourage friends and family who are registered to exercise their rights – and if you are registered – go make your voice heard on Nov 6! Just FYI, in our mock election, the Democrat Karl Dean won governor and Phil Bredesen won the senate race.

·           Key Club visited many of your GHs on Wednesday to ask for spare change to help support the Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF campaign. . "Everyday, worldwide, UNICF is saving and improving children's lives. The money raised from Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF helps provide kids in need with healthcare, safe water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more!" See below.
We'll continue collecting spare change and loose cash throughout next week. We have small orange boxes stationed on the office counter and the library. On Wednesday of next week, we'll have students collecting change in orange boxes during both lunches. All money collected will be sent directly to UNICEF! We hope you'll look for some spare change to contribute.
