5-17-19 Student Mission Briefing

GRYPHON MISSION BRIEFING
For Friday, May 17, 2019 – N-day
N3/N4 Finals day for all students!
AP testing – 5 of them all day long
School Mission – Boundless STEM: Learning & Leading
L&N Student Mission – #Own it!

School Ops:
·      Today’s schedule is a regular class schedule.  This will be the last day your N3/N4 classes will meet !

·      AP Exams – please note we have 5 different exams going on in room 221, 222, and guidance offices so we need to keep the station building and plaza as quiet as we can all day long.  Please help your classmates do their best by giving them the testing environment they deserve!

·      Today is the deadline to turn in your early dismissal form for next week!  Turn in to the office.  If you are over 18 we still need a parent’s signature; in your case it is about being informed, not giving permission.  If you need one they are available in the front office.  As a reminder, the finals testing schedule is:
o   Friday, May 17: N3/N4 finals
o   Monday, May 20: L1/L2 classes, L3/L4 finals, Early Release schedule
o   Tuesday, May 21: L1/L2 finals.  ½ day dismissal with permission
o   Wednesday, May 22: N1/N2 finals.  ½ day dismissal with permission
o   Thursday, May 23: scheduled makeups only – no classes

·      Students – a note about the new electric scooters available around the downtown area.  If you read the fine print in the App to rent them you will find they are not allowed to be ridden on sidewalks.  Individuals riding on the sidewalks within our campus boundaries will be stopped and asked to leave.  Students are not allowed to rent and leave the scooters parked on our campus.  There is nowhere on campus to legally park them.  When we find them we will be forced to call the company and have them removed from our property.  Wait until after school hours if you intend to rent and ride – and then don’t do it on our campus!

·      Looking for a wallet lost on Wednesday at school. It is a men’s black leather will a power orange T on it.  Please turn in to the office if found.

·      If you are interested in taking a course in summer school either to recover a credit, improve a grade, or attempt a new course, you will find all information at http://bit.ly/LNSummerInfo. From there you will be able to find the link to registration, pay your summer school fees, and see the course offerings for this year. The offerings are subject to change, so please make sure to double check here before registering.

·      LIBRARY BOOKS WERE DUE MAY 10.  ALL library books are due May 10 for inventory purposes. All fees are expected to be paid by this date as well. Students should have received an email if they have an overdue book or you owe a fine, but if you're wondering, please drop by the library to speak to Ms. Ellis.

Community  & Guidance Ops:
·      Covalence (L&N students Carter Manson and Tad Long) will be celebrating the release of our first album, "Alpha Decay" with an album release show at The Open Chord this Saturday, 5/18, starting at 8:00 pm.  This is an important show for us and we'd love to see some of our L&N friends there!  EventBrite link:    https://www.eventbrite.com/e/etms-presents-covalence-album-release-tickets-59717581895   Video Link:  https://youtu.be/sc7gt-alILE

·      “Way to go” to these ladies!
·      Clara Winn (Class of 2020) who just got accepted for this summer’s Governor’s School for International Studies at the University of Memphis!
·      Ayanna Albright (class of 2021) who has been selected to participate in the University of Tennessee’s Accounting and Information Management (AIM) Academy scheduled for July, 2019!

Quote of the day from Class of 2019 Salutatorian Connor McGinley:

You only live once is a lie.  You only die once; but you can live every single day.
It is your choice – what will it be today??
