Congrats to our
Ethics Teams! Two teams
proudly represented L&N STEM Academy Saturday at the 3rd annual
Ethics Bowl hosted by the University of Tennessee's Philosophy Department at
the Crown Plaza Hotel. Team L
consisted of Spencer Baxter, Taylor
Smith, Bailey Morgan, and Justin
Cross; Team N members were Alyssa
Cox-Lewis, Mattie Collins, Madeline Lonas, and Christopher Salvemini. Matched against 11 other teams
from East Tennessee, the competition consisted of making and
challenging arguments on issues such as arming the Syrian rebels, should
NCAA athletes be paid, synthetic meat vs. the beef industry, physician-assisted
suicide, conscientious objectors and the military draft, Michael Snowden and
privacy of US citizens, the Trayvon Martin case, and others. Both teams made it to the semi-finals in
this, their first competition. They
finished in 4th and 5th place out of 13 teams. L&N team participants were featured later
that day in media coverage of the event:
·

· Juniors/Seniors: Buy your prom tickets! Keep
in mind that advance sales are what allow purchase of prom favors and
decorations. Help us have a great prom
and not music in a bare room! Price is
$50 for singles/$90 couples. See Mrs. Brown or Ms. Stanish for tickets,
questions, or an application to bring someone from outside the school.
Prom is April 12 at the Square Room. Be there!
· Join us for book club! Our next meeting is on
Wednesday, February 19th, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Media Center.
