Thank you for a good testing day on Wednesday. Let’s keep it up and show everyone what you
know! Students should report to the same testing rooms you did on Wednesday, 1st
block for the part 2 subtest in English.

Attention all Gryphons, the
Community Building Committee of SGA will be holding a Donate Life for Michael
Day this coming Monday, March 7th during
all three lunches. There will be a representative from Donate for TN speaking
on behalf of Organ Donation Awareness; something Michael firmly believed and
supported. There will also be a Memoir Wall where students will be able to
write notes in honor of Michael which will than be placed in a scrapbook and
donated to his mother. Furthermore, donation buckets will be carried around the
Commons where all the money will be donated to the Red Cross. Plan now to
participate!
· Also – after you
donate blood on Monday the cafeteria will be providing apple or grape juice for
each donor. Students who donate will
have their name go into a drawing for iTunes gift cards being provided by our
cafeteria and the Nutrition Department!
Remember to bring the Medic form (attached) and see the link below to
sign up for your donation time. You may
NOT sign up for a time when you are scheduled to be taking a TNReady test. Thanks for our great cafeteria for joining
this effort!
· Congratulations to our Model United Nations Delegation,
which competed at the annual UT VolMUN this weekend! Our team, Haley Folsom, Anna Ward, Abigail Wells,
Aruha Khan, Nick D'Alessandro, and Gregory
Croisdale who brought home an Honorable Mention award for Finland!
· Congratulations to our Science Olympiad team! Final results form the 2016 regional
tournament last weekend are now available.

More congrats to Riley Hester, who has been accepted in
the NSLI Study Abroad program. She will spend 8 weeks in Russia, living
with a family and studying the language.

It's time to sign up for AP
Exams! We encourage all students who have taken or are currently enrolled in an
AP course to take the corresponding AP exam. Registration forms and
payment should be returned to the Guidance office by Wednesday, March 23rd. AP Exam order forms are
available here: http://www.knoxschools.org/Page/12097, in
the Guidance Office, and the document was emailed to all
students. The testing site for the AP exams will be announced
soon. Please check back for the dates, times & locations for
pre-administration sessions. Attendance at one of these sessions is

Hey Gryphons! Its testing week - Wednesday the bookstore
will be selling L&N sweatpants for $10. We challenge the students to wear
their sweatpants in order to "sweat it out" during their testing. The
sweatpants will be available for the remainder of the week every morning before
class and during all lunches.
· Wondering what
your local STEMpunks have been up to? After six weeks of hard work, they're
ready to show off what they've built. Check out their brand new robot for this

· The L&N
Science Bowl team (Alec Bissell, Ben Kaman, Kishan Tailor, Jacob Samar,
and Jacob Siler) competed at the Tennessee Science Bowl on
Saturday, 2/27. The team scored 7 wins and 2 losses,
defeated only by Cedar Springs Homeschool and Oak Ridge High School
(who would later win 1st and 3rd place, respectively). Our team's
performance placed them in the top 8 of 58 teams from across the state. Well done team!
· Its time for us
to select our candidate from the L&N for the CTE Goes Live systemwide talent contest! If you’d like to be considered, send Mrs.
Ashe a link to a video of you performing (YouTube works great). We’ll send a single link to all of the videos
during Advisory period Friday, March 4 (next Friday) so everyone can watch and
cast your votes for our rep to this big contest. Email if you have questions – good luck!
(must be solo acts only – no groups or bands, sorry, that’s CTE contest rules).
· Autumn is the
best time of the year for a trip to NYC!
There will be an interest meeting about our fall break trip to NYC on
NEXT Wednesday, March 9 from 6-7 p.m. The trip will take place Saturday
morning, October 8-Thursday morning, October 13, 2016. We will see: the
Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue, Grand Central Station, Metropolitan Museum of
Art, the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island, 9/11 Memorial, Greenwich Village, Soho,
Chinatown, Little Italy, the Museum of Modern Art, Central Park & the Zoo,
Times Square, High Line, the American Museum of Natural History/Hayden
Planetarium, a Broadway and an off-Broadway Show. If you are interested, please

the National Science & Engineering Festival Trip to DC!
Your $300 balance is DUE if you are
going (and have already paid your deposit) to the National Science &
Engineering Festival in Washington, D.C. April 13-17. Please bring your payment
to Ms. Jorgensen or Ms. Ellis before
THIS Friday, March 4. If for any reason, you cannot come, please let us
know right away so we can find a replacement. You will only have your deposit
refunded if we can fill your spot.We have an additional slot for a female
student and for a male student available on the DC Field Trip. First come,

Make plans to join us
for a pancake breakfast fundraiser hosted by SGA on Saturday, March 5th,
from 8:30 A.M. to 10 A.M. The fundraiser will be held at the Chili's restaurant
located in North Knoxville at 6635 Clinton Highway. Tickets are $8 for
adults and $4 for children 12 and under. All proceeds from the event will
benefit the Great Starts program at the Helen Ross McNabb Center. Tickets can

give back to our community!

A
representative from the School at the Art Institute of Chicago will be
in the Guidance office at 12:20 on Thursday this week (March 3).
· Knox County
Youth Health Board is seeking applicants.
The Youth Health Board is a diverse group of young people from across
Knox County. Two reps from each high
school will be accepted. Students who
are selected will be able to explore the field of Public Health and expand
their knowledge by working with numerous health professionals. Members will work with their community to
address issues that they are passionate about.
Deadline to apply is April 1, 2016.
