5-15-18 Student Mission Briefing

GRYPHON MISSION BRIEFING
For Tuesday, May 15, 2018 – L-day
School Mission – Boundless STEM: Learning & Leading
L&N Student Mission – #Own it!

Special Ops:
A reminder to all 9th – 11th grade students.  The seniors have completed their journey; but yours continues.  You are still in school.  Do not let anything distract you now from your last few days of classes, turning in projects, presentations, and final exams.  Remember that discipline incurred now will be applied now and carried over as school starts in the fall.  Stay focused and #OwnIt!

School Ops:
·      TONIGHT: A series of disastrous blind dates! Teens who express their angst by sharing selfies! A man obsessed with small, fluffy animals!   Come out and enjoy a night of theatre rain or shine, from 7-9pm in the Commons! The Advanced Theatre class will perform three one-act plays: Check Please, Selfie, and Of Mice and Men. Refreshments will be for sale and a donation of $5 is appreciated.

·      Shout out to our Boys and Girls’ Tennis Teams – they have won the Region 2 Championships and are now headed to state competition next week!

·      Congratulations to the students below who have been awarded recognition by the Alliance to Save Energy genius hour group.  Come by the office to pick up your prizes!

·      Yearbook distribution will be next Tuesday, 5/22, from 1:30 – 4:30 on the plaza following a picnic lunch from 1:00 – 1:30.  All students are welcome to attend till 4:30.  Then stick around if you can for the 2nd Annual Fannon Film Festival of student-created films.  More details to follow.

·      All 9th – 11th grade students should have received permission forms to leave early for half-day exams on May 22 and 23rd from your 4th period teacher Friday.  If you were out or need another one, they are available in the office.  They are due back no later than Wednesday, May 16 – return to box labeled in the front office or any teacher.

·      Start making plans now all students – this Thursday, May 17, is graduation for the Class of 2018 at 3:00 at Thompson Boling Arena.  We will dismiss school for all students at 1:00 – lunch will be served to everyone until 1:30.  You will meet all 4 L-day classes in shortened periods before 1:00.  Students who have transportation or a way home may leave (just like an Early Release day).  Students who ride buses will wait, supervised, in the Commons/Verandah until 4:30.

Community  & Guidance Ops:
·      Big shout out to Chloe Weaver and Caleb Weaver for being accepted to a 5-week summer program at the Berklee School of Music in Boston for this summer!  They each received full scholarships worth $10,000!  Bravo!

The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.
