5-16-18 Student Mission Briefing

GRYPHON MISSION BRIEFING
For Wednesday, May 16, 2018 – N-day
School Mission – Boundless STEM: Learning & Leading
L&N Student Mission – #Own it!

Special Ops:
A reminder to all 9th – 11th grade students.  We are having a sudden spike in lost minds among our underclassmen!  All rules still apply to you and infractions now can cost you days of suspension as this school year ends, carried into next school year.  They can even cost you your transfer!  Don’t let spring madness make you a victim.  You know our expectations.  Live up to them or get ready to enroll at another school – it is that easy.

School Ops:
·      TODAY is the day – don’t forget to bring your signed Exam day Early Release form to be able to leave campus after exams on Tues and Wed, 5/22 and 23.  Turn in to the front office.

·      Join us next Tuesday, 5/22, from 1:30 – 4:00 for a picnic and yearbook signing party on the plaza!  Come down after you’ve finished assignments for teachers and pick up or purchase a yearbook (only a few extra are available) or just hang out, listen to the music, and sign your friends’ books.  Then stay for the 2nd Annual Film Festival beginning at 5:00 in the Commons.  A program of offerings is attached.

·      Shout out to our Boys and Girls’ Tennis Teams – they have won the Region 2 Championships and are now headed to state competition next week!

·      Congratulations to the students below who have been awarded recognition by the Alliance to Save Energy genius hour group.  Come by the office to pick up your prizes!
·      Photography Competition
1st water - Maggie Sloan
1st land - Nathan Moye
2nd water - Lauren Earley
·      Writing Competition
1st - Nicole Damiano
2nd - Nathan Moye
3rd - Lillian Gilch

·      Start making plans now all students – this Thursday, May 17, is graduation for the Class of 2018 at 3:00 at Thompson Boling Arena.  We will dismiss school for all students at 1:00 – lunch will be served to everyone until 1:30.  You will meet all 4 L-day classes in shortened periods before 1:00.  Students who have transportation or a way home may leave (just like an Early Release day).  Students who ride buses will wait, supervised, in the Commons/Verandah until 4:30.

Community  & Guidance Ops:
·      Shout out to Kieran Maben, freshman, who will be featured on WDVX’s live blue plate special today (Wednesday) at lunch in a classical guitar trio!

Quote of the day from Mark Twain:

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions.  Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you too can become great.
