GRYPHON MISSION BRIEFING
For Friday, November 3, 2017 – N-day
School Mission – Boundless STEM: Learning & Leading
L&N Student Mission – #Own it!

School Ops:
·      All students who wish to enter our L&N National History Day competition are invited to do so.  It is not necessary to do this as part of a class project.  You may compete just for the love of history and the love of competition!  As always, follow exact directions on NHD website, and bring Process Paper, Annotated Bibliography, and your project to the competition in the Commons--9:30, Monday, Nov 20.  Please email Mrs. Robbins or Ms. Stanish if you plan to compete (other than as part of a class) so we can plan exhibit space for you.  Remember, you may compete as an individual or a group (maximum five people).  Questions?  Email Mrs. Robbins or Ms. Stanish.

·      Yearbooks are now $60 through November 17! Order yours now by visiting www.jostensyearbooks.com or by picking up an order form from the office. Prices will continue to go up the longer you wait to order, so purchase yours now to save up to $20 this school year!  Want to keep up with yearbook announcements and updates as they happen? Follow us on twitter @STEMYB!!

·      Our girls bowling team won their second match of the season with a victory over Bearden after school yesterday. Congrats!!

·      Today (Friday) is the deadline for deposits to be made to be included on the Washington DC National STEM Expo and Art trip happening this spring.  See Jorgenson or Powell with questions.

·      Good luck to our running Gryphons as the Boys and Girls’ Cross Country teams head to middle TN to run in the state championship meet on Saturday!  The course address is Percy Warner Park Steeplechase Cross Country Course , Percy Warner Park, 2500 Old Hickory Blvd., Nashville, TN 37221.  Keep watching the school’s Twitter account for updates and race times.

·      Congrats to Lucy Drinnen, Cinna Lockhart, and Reed Freeman, who’s video “Thank a Veteran” just won the ORNL Veteran’s Day Video contest.  This is the 4th year in a row that an L&N team has won this competition!  Here’s a link to their winning video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-v-8BivR6uA

·      And speaking of Veteran’s Day – you’ll be hearing more in Advisory class on Friday about our school field trip along Gay St next week, on Nov 10, to watch the Veteran’s Day Parade live!  This is a great tradition that is unique to our school – looking forward to all students participating!

·      Seniors – be sure you reserve your space for the date that works best for you for the Senior breakfast.  This is no cost to you and we expect 100% participation.  Email Ms. Coley if you have any questions.  The link is www.SignUpGenius.com/go/8050844A5A623AB9-class
