School Ops:
·      See the EOC testing schedule at the bottom for today’s tests and locations.  Remember to bring your computer, fully charged, to testing daily.

·      Here’s something fun to take your mind off testing for a moment – it is time to vote for the PTSA Teacher and Support Person of the Year Awards!  This student-voted recognition will be presented at the spring awards event next Thursday night.  Let your favorite teacher and staff member have your support!  You must use your @knoxschools email address to log in, and you may only vote once in each poll.

·      Make plans to join us for the Spring Choral Concert
Thursday, April 19

Choir Senior Recognitions
Stewart Singer Barbershop Quartet Debut
The Greatest Showman Combined Choir Finale

·      Want to visit Paul Revere’s house, see Harvard Square, or tour the Lexington Battle Green? Interested in exploring Greenwich Village, SOHO, Chinatown, and Little Italy? Ready to see the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, the MET, and two Broadway shows? Due to overwhelming student requests, I will be hosting a spring break trip to New York and Boston in 2019. On Monday, April 23, we will host an enrollment meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the STEM Space. At this meeting, we will discuss the specific itinerary, pricing, and travel details. Please complete this form if you are interested in attending the meeting and/or trip: https://goo.gl/forms/OFoCVKpCMAzHJpFx2

·      Plan on coming this Friday night to our PTA Spring fundraiser!  Bring your parents, $5 entry fee gets you 2 music shows on the plaza, food trucks where you can buy dinner, and a wide variety of items to bid on – including a student parking pass on campus for 2018-19 school year (student does not have to be a senior to win)!

·      Congrats to Hali Davis, Noah Rivera, and Marianna Simmins, who represented the L&N at the TN State Destination Imagination Tournament in Nolansville, TN last weekend.  They gave a great performance.  We’re looking to expand the team next year – ask them how to join!

·      Shout out to our TSA state competition team who competed last weekend in Chattanooga.  This team of talented 15 brought home 6 different trophies as they qualified for Nationals to be held this summer in Atlanta.  Good luck TSA!

·      Any boys or girls interested in playing golf next fall contact Mr. Waxmonsky.  The season starts before the first day of school. You can talk to him in person or at mark.waxmonsky@knoxschools.org for information about tryouts.

·      Make sure that from the 16th-27th you bring in canned pet food, bagged dry pet food, peanut butter, and other pet supplies to help out our local Young Williams Animal Shelter! Bring in your donations to a table in the commons and record on this google form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdRGBMKiatZS2bETBGr1k4oAWiZayQ08_Dl8Okd2ddlyE8veg/viewform?usp=sf_link ) how much you bring in for your advisory. The advisory with the most donations by the 27th will win a doughnut party!

Community  & Guidance Ops:
·      Summer opportunity: The Young Scholars Program (YSP) is for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and it's a great opportunity to get some hands-on research in engineering before college. This is a competitive application process, so students will need to submit transcripts and 2 letters of recommendation, as well as a personal statement. That program runs July 2 - 27th, and information can be found here: http://curent.utk.edu/education/pre-college/youngscholars/  The program runs on campus at the University of TN through the CURENT group.  We’ve had students participate in the past and loved it!
