School Mission – Boundless STEM: Learning & Leading
L&N Student Mission – #Own it!

School Ops:
·      If you ordered a class spirit shirt they are in!  See Mrs. Stanish for delivery details.  Get them in time to wear for next Monday’s Color Wars!

·      Thank you students for bearing with us through the craziness of the ACT retake the last couple days.  It will be the underclassmen’s turn next Wednesday as all 9 – 11th graders take the PSAT.  If you are a 9 – 11th grader and have not yet completed your prefill for your answer sheet (there are 21 of you left) you need to come to the Commons at the beginning of any class period after checking in with your teacher that it is ok.  The next option is to do it during Genius Hour.  Thank you for your cooperation.

·      Fall Dance tickets are on sale now! Through this week and next.
WHEN: during ALL lunches from October 15th to the 26th.
WHERE: in the commons under the SGA bulletin board.
HOW MUCH: $8 per person, $14 for a couple
If you don't buy one before the dance YOU CAN STILL GO! At the door, tickets will be $10 per person during the dance (October 27th from 7pm to 10pm).  Dress is semi-formal.

·    Congratulations to Riley Velarde who won 1st place in the 10th – 12th grade category in the Watershed poster design contest for the Knox County Soil Conservation DistrictRiley will receive her award at the Farmers’ Banquet on October 18.

·         Join us this Friday in a schoolwide PINK OUT to recognize those who are battling cancer, those who have fought and won, and honor those who lost the fight.

·         Congratulations to the Ladies Golfing Gryphons today as they brought home the school’s first ever State placement – finishing as finalists at the state championship over fall break!  Hats off to the team: Madilyn Newman, Emma Patterson, and Sydney Rockwell.  And special shout out to Madilyn Newman for placing 3rd in the state!!  Way to go ladies!!

·      Congratulations to the L&N Art Honor Society for winning the People’s Choice Award (again) and 1st Place High School Collaborative at the Oak Ridge Street Painting Festival on Saturday over fall break! NAHS President Savannah Bresler led our team, which consisted of Ayesha and Maryam Ahmed,  Rachel Barrick, Josie Bresler, Jennifer Butler, Kirsten Carter, Kayla Juhl, Piper Liggett, Audrey Moran and Cameron Ramsey. The art was inspired by a photo of Audrey by student Devon McGinley.   Congratulations also to L&N art student Lauren Thompson who won 3rd place in the High School single category!

Community  & Guidance Ops:
·      Seniors – deadline is approaching to file for TN Promise!  Don’t leave potential money on the table – apply and have the money if you want it.  If you wind up not needing it, no loss; but it you don’t apply you definitely won’t get it!! It is free – see a guidance counselor if you need help.  Deadline is Nov 1 – we’re looking for 100% of the senior class to register, right now we have 23%.
