Students – yearbook makeup photos are
this morning! You will be called by
grade level to report to room 104 for anyone who did not have their yearbook
photo made in September (Seniors may have cap & gown and tux/drape only)1st
block only. Don’t miss this last
opportunity to be in the yearbook! You do not have to buy anything to sit for a
photo.

Potential NHS Candidates: Application
packets for National Honor Society this year are due no later than Wednesday,
October 3rd by 4:40pm. These packets must be turned in directly to Mr. Arnold
or Ms. Stanish so they can sign off on the time. DO NOT turn them in to the
office! Make sure you have noted what teachers are doing your recommendations
on the form and also be sure that you actually asked them!

Stop by the new seating for customers
of the Book Nook (bookstore coffee shop) in the hallway between the commons and
office. The chairs and tables are for
those who have purchased something from the Nook only. So get a hot beverage and have a seat!

Congratulations to the Ladies Golfing
Gryphons today as they brought home the Regional Championship! Hats off to the team: Madilyn Newman, Emma Patterson, and Sydney Rockwell. And special
shout out to Madilyn Newman for
winning the individual regional champion title!! Way to go ladies!!

L&N Choirs present Concert in the
Commons tonight, October 2 at 7:00pm. Both Vocal Music and Choral
Ensemble will perform in addition to five student feature performances by AJ
Berry, Laiyal Abdelrazek, Andrew Sarphie, Derrick Washington, Savannah Sweat
and Emma Fox.

Who are the L&N STEM Academy's most
talented voiceless performers? Find out Thursday,
October 4th at the L&N Theatre Arts’ Third Annual Lip Sync Battle. This
year’s performance will be held at the Amphitheater at 7pm! Bring a $3 donation
and get ready to see your fellow students compete in the best Lip Sync Battle
ever!!

Students – will you be 18
on or before November 6? The League of
Women Voters will be here on Thursday, Oct 4, to register you to vote in the
upcoming election for TN’s next governor!

· Community volunteer opportunity:
· Students – want to get experience on a political
campaign from the inside?! Opportunities
open for interns (unpaid) to work on a US Congressional campaign from now till
election day, Nov 6. Contact s1011616@student.knoxschools.org for more information.

Applications
are now being accepted from junior or senior high school students to be a
participant in the United States Senate Youth Program. Two
Tennessee delegates will participate
in an annual Washington Week in March which includes a variety of events that
promote a unique understanding of the structure of our national government. The
Hearst Foundation also offers selected state finalists a $10,000 undergraduate
scholarship. The student application and instructions for applying are
available here. Applications must be submitted no later than Oct. 29.
