School Ops:

·         Seniors – reminder that the first TN Promise meeting is THIS morning, Oct 5, from 8:00 – 8:30 in our Commons area (all other students will need to stay in the cafeteria serving area and verandah/plaza during this time.  All seniors are expected to attend!  The Media Center is being used to videotape a journalism interview, it will also be closed for this time.

·         Important reminder – when we come back from fall break on Monday, October 15 – the schedule is regular early release, but you will meet L1, L2, M3,and M4 classes.  On Tuesday, Oct 16, you will meet M1, M2, L3, and L4 classes.  Make plans accordingly!

·         Key club is doing a project through mid-November called Coats for the Cold. There is a donation box in the STEM space for all items including new or used coats, scarves, hats, and gloves. These items will be distributed by KARM to those in need. 

·         Stop by the new seating for customers of the Book Nook (bookstore coffee shop) in the hallway between the commons and office.  The chairs and tables are for those who have purchased something from the Nook only.  So get a hot beverage and have a seat!

·         Congratulations to the Ladies Golfing Gryphons today as they brought home the Regional Championship!  Hats off to the team: Madilyn Newman, Emma Patterson, and Sydney Rockwell.  And special shout out to Madilyn Newman for winning the individual regional champion title!!  Way to go ladies!!

Community  & Guidance Ops:
·      College rep visit:  Maryville College representative will be in Guidance 12:15 Monday, October 15.

·      L&N’s “house band”, Covalence (L&N students Carter Manson and Tad Long) are opening for Jeremy's Ten: A Pearl Jam Tribute at The Open Chord this Saturday, 10\6 from 8:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $12. This is an important show and they'd love to see some L&N friends there.


·      Community volunteer opportunity:



·        Applications are now being accepted from junior or senior high school students to be a participant in the United States Senate Youth Program.  Two Tennessee delegates will participate in an annual Washington Week in March which includes a variety of events that promote a unique understanding of the structure of our national government. The Hearst Foundation also offers selected state finalists a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship. The student application and instructions for applying are available here. Applications must be submitted no later than Oct. 29.
