School Ops:
·         Look back through your email for an email from Mrs. Ashe sent out Tuesday around 6:00 p.m. about a national emergency system phone test that will happen today at 2:18 p.m.  Heads up!

·          Key club is doing a project through mid-November called Coats for the Cold. There is a donation box in the STEM space for all items including new or used coats, scarves, hats, and gloves. These items will be distributed by KARM to those in need. 

·         Potential NHS Candidates: Application packets for National Honor Society this year are due no later than today, October 3rd by 4:40pm. These packets must be turned in directly to Mr. Arnold or Ms. Stanish so they can sign off on the time. DO NOT turn them in to the office! Make sure you have noted what teachers are doing your recommendations on the form and also be sure that you actually asked them!

·         Stop by the new seating for customers of the Book Nook (bookstore coffee shop) in the hallway between the commons and office.  The chairs and tables are for those who have purchased something from the Nook only.  So get a hot beverage and have a seat!

·         Congratulations to the Ladies Golfing Gryphons today as they brought home the Regional Championship!  Hats off to the team: Madilyn Newman, Emma Patterson, and Sydney Rockwell.  And special shout out to Madilyn Newman for winning the individual regional champion title!!  Way to go ladies!!

·         Who are the L&N STEM Academy's most talented voiceless performers? Find out Thursday, October 4th at the L&N Theatre Arts’ Third Annual Lip Sync Battle. This year’s performance will be held at the Amphitheater at 7pm! Bring a $3 donation and get ready to see your fellow students compete in the best Lip Sync Battle ever!!

·      Students – will you be 18 on or before November 6?  The League of Women Voters will be here on Thursday, Oct 4, to register you to vote in the upcoming election for TN’s next governor!

·      Community volunteer opportunity:



·      Students – want to get experience on a political campaign from the inside?!  Opportunities open for interns (unpaid) to work on a US Congressional campaign from now till election day, Nov 6.  Contact s1011616@student.knoxschools.org for more information.

·        Applications are now being accepted from junior or senior high school students to be a participant in the United States Senate Youth Program.  Two Tennessee delegates will participate in an annual Washington Week in March which includes a variety of events that promote a unique understanding of the structure of our national government. The Hearst Foundation also offers selected state finalists a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship. The student application and instructions for applying are available here. Applications must be submitted no later than Oct. 29.
