Today is first day of
TNReady testing – don’t forget all English 1, 2, and US History classes are
testing so 1st block for anyone not testing will run from 9:30 – 11:30. Remember to check your schedule from Advisory
on Friday to find where to report. There
are also signs posted around school to help you find your testing room. All non-testers will report to the Commons
where we will do AP pre-fill for those taking an AP test. Regular Monday schedule will resume at 11:30.
·
Our elevator is still
down for repairs. We have reached out to
those we think will be most affected; if you are affected and have not been
contacted please notify the front office.

Congratulations
to our Tennessee History Day winners!
Before attending prom on Saturday these students competed in
Nashville. Shout out to Olivia Sharp, for placing first in the
State of Tennessee with her website, and Reece
Brown placing second with her performance. They both earned a spot in
the national competition in Maryland in June. We also had nine other
participants who represented us very well.
A special "thank
you" goes to Mr. Griffin, who sponsored this event in Nashville on
Saturday, and then came back to town for prom later that evening! Talk
about a busy schedule!
·
WATE is covering the
L&N multiple ways this week! Check
out this posting for a video interview with our robotics team: https://www.wate.com/news/east-tennessee-teens-at-robotics-competition_20190412205447/1921765036. And set your DVR to record their Living East
Tennessee program as our NAHS students will be on live for a chalking demo
creating a smaller version of their winning design from the Dogwood Arts
Festival Chalkwalk during the show.
·
Our musical Gryphons represented
us well at the All State event in Nashville last week. Gretta
Berry did very well in the Women’s
Choir, and in instrumental, students earned these recognitions:

band. He chaired principal bassoon and 1st
in the entire state for 11th-12th grade – a first for our
school!
§ Connor McGinley: 10th chair, 2nd violin –
Symphony Orchestra
§ Campbell Maben: 10th chair, 1st violin – String
Orchestra
§ Maddie Maben: 3rd chair, cello – String Orchestra
§ Kieran Maben: 2nd chair, double bass – String Orchestra

The Class
of 2019 will be hosting a Tournament/Game Night Monday, April 15th from 5-8pm with all
proceeds going to the senior gift. The event is free to attend but there will
be $5 Smash Bros tournaments and tournaments for spike-ball and foursquare,
where the winners will win prizes and participants will have the opportunity to
win. Attendees will be able to buy pizza, chips, drinks, and desserts. Plan to
attend if you want to have a great time and win some awesome prizes.

The greatest danger for most of us is not that
