8-22-16 Student Mission Briefing

GRYPHON MISSION BRIEFING
For Monday, August 22, 2016 – “M” day
L&N Student Mission – #Own it!
Remember – Monday is Early Release Schedule – don’t be late to classes!
School Ops:
·      Teens for Christ starts Monday, Aug 22, at 8:55 in room D113.  Come join us!

·      What? Junior Class Social Market Square Scavenger Hunt
When? Monday 22nd at 3:45pm
Where? Meet on World’s Fair Lawn
Who? Winning Group will get a prize!
Details? DM us on Twitter: @LNSTEM2018

·      Heads up to drivers and parents – two upcoming changes to schedules/parking:
o   Friday, Aug 26 – WFP Drive will have one lane closed in the afternoon.  Do NOT park to wait along the Holiday Inn – it keeps buses from being able to reach our parking lot.  Use an alternate pick up location!
o   Thursday, Sept 1 (next week) – school will dismiss and buses will run at 12:45 p.m.  Students who usually park in the Blackstock public lot need to pick up a parking pass from the front office for that day.  You will not be allowed in the lot without one!

·      Genius Hour assignments will be sent to you via email at the end of today.  You should check to see where you’ve been placed.  If your name is in GREEN, you did not fill out the Google form and were placed in that activity.  The only requests to move that will be granted are those that come from teachers.

·      If you have Digital Lab during M3 – be sure and check your email for a message about location from Mr. Childers.

Community  & Guidance Ops:
·      Are you interested in being more involved in your school community? PTSA is looking for four student representatives to join our Board of Managers. We will select one student per grade to represent his or her class (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors) at our PTSA meetings and events. If you'd like to be considered for one of these roles, please fill out the following application: https://goo.gl/forms/xVzWzkZoj6zxUxIR2. If you have questions, contact Ms. Ellis. (This application will close on Monday, Aug. 22nd at 11:59 p.m.)

·      In-Home Tutoring will be hosting a Free Mock ACT on Saturday, August 27 at 9 a.m. for all Knox County students, at ITT tech. Students will get their results before they leave and will get to keep their tests for their review. Limited seating is available, so students need to pre-register to make sure they have a seat.  This is a great practice opportunity before the September test.  Sign-up directly from their website at  www.KnoxvilleTutor.com
