School Ops:
·      Good luck today to our Golfing Gryphons as both Boys and Girls teams tee off for the district championship match in Sevierville!  Good luck golfers!  Boys team: Nick Brison, Jacob Fannon, Gunnar Gladwin, and Ian Hawkins and Girls team: Madilyn Newman, Emma Patterson, and Sydney Rockwell

·      Make sure to stop by the Equality Club bake sale in the commons from 9:30-4:30 (except not from 12:20 – 1:46) today to help us raise money for our yearly events! Items are $1 each unless otherwise specified. There are vegan options available. Swing by for delicious cupcakes, cookies, and more!

·      Jostens will be at L & N STEM academy here today, September 24th, during lunch in the Cafeteria.  Orders for Jewelry for any Sophomore, Junior or Seniors will be taken during lunch.  Also, Seniors we be turning in their order for Senior Supplies and Cap/Gown.  Extra packets of information, including order forms are available in the office, or you can order online any time before order day at Jostens.com.

·      Juniors/seniors: Did you miss the information meeting last week about volunteering at Ritta Elementary for STEM activities?  Learn more, please email s754151@student.knoxschools.org. Minimum 3.5 GPA required.

·      Dive In!  Gryphon Swim & Dive Team starts practice this week - Come give it a try! We have a 2 week trial period- no cuts for swim team.  Practices are Monday, Tuesday & Thursday  6:45 am - 8:00 am at the Student Aquatic Center at UT (must have physical and paperwork to participate).  Questions or more information contact Dr. Bretscher 

·      Freshman and Sophomores, if you need help catching up on some school work, drop by the STEM space Wednesday mornings at 8:15 to meet with students in the National Honors Society who can help you out! We'll have students representing each subject, even classes like Latin and AP Human Geography!

·      Students – want to get experience on a political campaign from the inside?!  Opportunities open for interns (unpaid) to work on a US Congressional campaign from now till election day, Nov 6.  Contact s1011616@student.knoxschools.org for more information.

·        Applications are now being accepted from junior or senior high school students to be a participant in the United States Senate Youth Program.  Two Tennessee delegates will participate in an annual Washington Week in March which includes a variety of events that promote a unique understanding of the structure of our national government. The Hearst Foundation also offers selected state finalists a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship. The student application and instructions for applying are available here. Applications must be submitted no later than Oct. 29.
